Full-day gulet trip from Bodrum Marina to Orak Island, Aquarium Bay, and Kızılburun
Full-day gulet trip from Bodrum Marina to Orak Island, Aquarium Bay, and Kızılburun
The standard Bodrum boat tour runs from about 10 AM to 5 PM aboard a gulet, a traditional wooden boat with shaded deck space, toilets, and room to stretch out. Lunch, soft drinks, and snorkeling equipment are usually included in the price. The route makes three stops. Orak Island comes first, a small uninhabited island named for its sickle shape (orak means sickle in Turkish), where clear water and rocky seabed make for good snorkeling among the fish. Aquarium Bay follows, a protected cove with visibility so good you can see the bottom from the deck; it offers some of the best snorkeling near Bodrum. The last stop is Kızılburun, or Red Cape, where red cliffs drop straight into blue water for a final swim before the boat turns back.

The peninsula's coastline is best reached by water. Boat trips visit coves that roads do not reach, and the water is clear enough for good snorkeling. Most trips run daily in season.
Water sports fans get steady wind and calm bays here. Beginners can book lessons at most beach clubs.
First-time visitors and solo travelers both manage easily here. The area is walkable, and staff at most sites are used to tourists.
Bodrum is Turkey's best-known upscale coastal town. The peninsula has been inhabited for over 2,400 years, first as a Greek city-state, later as a Roman province and a Crusader stronghold.
The town was once Halicarnassus, birthplace of the historian Herodotus and site of the Mausoleum, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The ancient theater and the medieval castle both survive, a short walk apart.
Boat builders here still make wooden gulets by hand, and some shipyards accept visitors during working hours. The restaurant scene includes simple lokantas as well as resort dining rooms.
