Quiet fishing village 20 km from Marmaris with clear water, stone houses, and seafood restaurants
Turunç is a fishing village in a protected horseshoe bay about 20 kilometers from Marmaris, far enough down the winding coast road to have kept its original character. The fishing fleet still works out of the small harbor, and the daily catch supplies the family-run restaurants that are the village's main reputation. Narrow cobblestone streets climb between traditional stone houses, many of them converted into small guesthouses. The bay itself stays calm and clear year round, and the underwater visibility draws snorkelers and divers; equipment can be rented in the village. Pine forest and old olive groves cover the surrounding hills, with hiking trails leading up to viewpoints over the bay. Turunç goes to bed early, and the village works to keep tourism low-impact. If you want nightlife, stay in Marmaris; if you want quiet, come here.

Pine-covered peninsulas break this coast into dozens of sheltered bays. Much of the area is under environmental protection, which keeps the water clear and the shoreline largely unbuilt.
Sailors and walkers get the most from this coast. The bays are sheltered, and boat traffic stays light outside July and August.
First-time visitors and solo travelers both manage easily here. The area is walkable, and staff at most sites are used to tourists.
Marmaris is an old port that now runs on yacht tourism. The natural harbor has been inhabited for over 3,000 years because it offers some of the best protection from weather on this coast.
Pine-covered peninsulas shelter the bay and break the coast into smaller coves. Greek settlements, Ottoman fortifications, and modern marinas all sit within a few kilometers of each other.
Boat building and pine honey production are the area's traditional trades. Some workshops let visitors watch. Ask first; most owners are happy to explain the work.
