Blue Flag beach in a sheltered bay 8 km from Marmaris, backed by pine mountains
İçmeler Beach fills the end of a horseshoe-shaped bay 8 kilometers from Marmaris center, a 300-meter strip of golden sand with Blue Flag certification for water quality. Pine-covered mountains come down close to the shore on both sides, which shelters the bay and keeps the sea calm for most of the season. The bottom slopes gently, so children can play in shallow water well out from the sand, and the clear conditions suit snorkeling. Facilities are complete without being overwhelming: sunbed and umbrella rental, freshwater showers, changing rooms, and beachfront restaurants doing seafood and Turkish standards. Water sports operators run jet skis, parasailing, and boat trips to coves and islands nearby. Arrive before 9 AM in peak season if you want a spot near the water, and stay for the sunset over the bay.

Marmaris sits on one of the most sheltered natural harbors on this coast. Several beaches hold Blue Flag certification, and quieter coves nearby are reachable by boat.
Swimmers and water sports fans do well here. The protected bay keeps the water calm, and pine forest runs down close to the sand.
First-time visitors and solo travelers both manage easily here. The area is walkable, and staff at most sites are used to tourists.
Marmaris is an old port that now runs on yacht tourism. The natural harbor has been inhabited for over 3,000 years because it offers some of the best protection from weather on this coast.
Pine-covered peninsulas shelter the bay and break the coast into smaller coves. Greek settlements, Ottoman fortifications, and modern marinas all sit within a few kilometers of each other.
Boat building and pine honey production are the area's traditional trades. Some workshops let visitors watch. Ask first; most owners are happy to explain the work.
