Bodrum Airport Transfers: Getting to Bodrum Town & the Peninsula

Buses, taxis, private transfers and car rental from Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV)

Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) lies on the mainland, about 35 km from Bodrum town, roughly a 35–40 minute drive. From there, the peninsula opens up: the town and its castle, the beaches of Gümbet and Bitez, the sunsets of Gümüşlük and Turgutreis, and the stylish bays of Yalıkavak and Türkbükü. Here is how to get to each of them.

🌿 Good to know

The public airport bus is designed around domestic flights, and buses cannot stop at the international terminal. If you arrive on an international flight, a pre-booked transfer or a taxi is usually the easiest option.

How far is it?

  • Bodrum town and Torba: about 35 km, 35–40 minutes.
  • Gümbet and Bitez: a little further, around 45 minutes.
  • Türkbükü and Gölköy on the north coast: around 45–55 minutes.
  • Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük and Turgutreis at the western end: around an hour.

Times are approximate and longer in summer traffic, especially on Saturdays.

Airport bus (Muttaş)

  • Route: the Muğla public transport company Muttaş runs buses between the airport and Bodrum bus station in Torba, stopping at Güvercinlik.
  • Timed to domestic flights: buses meet domestic arrivals, and leave Bodrum about two hours before domestic departures.
  • Not for international arrivals: buses cannot pick up or drop off at the international terminal.
  • Tickets: no reservations; pay on board, credit cards accepted. Check the official Muttaş timetable.
  • Onward: from Bodrum bus station, dolmuş minibuses run to Gümbet, Bitez, Turgutreis, Gümüşlük, Yalıkavak and Türkbükü.

Private transfer (most comfortable)

  • Door to door: your driver waits in arrivals with a name sign, including for late or delayed flights.
  • Price per vehicle, good value for families and groups and the best choice for the far ends of the peninsula.
  • Ask for child seats when you book.

Taxi

  • Taxis wait outside the terminal. For trips to the peninsula, agree the price or check the meter before you set off.

Car rental

  • Rental desks of international and local companies are in the arrivals area.
  • A car is handy for exploring the peninsula’s bays, Ephesus, Didyma and Lake Bafa.
  • Parking in Bodrum town is limited in summer; ask your hotel about parking.
